What is Dichotomy in MBTI?
The Four Dichotomies in the MBTI That Shape the MBTI Personality Preference Type
The first MBTI dichotomy (Extrovert | Introvert) addresses attention and energy. Where do we tend to get our energy, direct our attention, and focus our attention—on our external world or our internal world?.
They tend to prefer focusing their attention and activities on the external world, drawing energy from what's happening outside. They explore ideas by expressing them, have many interests, and learn or think better through discussion.
They tend to prefer focusing their attention inward, gaining energy from reflection and self-discovery. They explore ideas by thinking them through, focusing on their interests, and being more personal and reflective.
The next MBTI dichotomy describes cognitive preferences in obtaining information and the types of information we trust, as well as the process of drawing conclusions and the relationship to application and perception.
Tends to prefer information in the big picture, imaginative, and probable form. Focuses information on patterns and meaning, uses metaphors, abstracts, and creates ideas and theories.
They prefer things that are sequential, detailed, and based on facts and proven experience. They understand ideas and theories through direct practice, and tend to be careful and thorough in drawing conclusions.
Describes preferences and cognitive functions in making decisions, the things we take into consideration, and our attitudes in relation to external triggers.
Make decisions based on values, norms, and maintaining shared harmony. When making decisions, tend to be proactive in identifying the parties and elements involved, pursuing positive interactions, and using empathy.
They decide by stepping back to gain an objective perspective, using cause and effect considerations, and tend to use logic. They prefer to analyze by the book when making decisions.
Preferences that describe how we interact with the world, how we tend to plan and adapt to the world, external activities, and plan what we do in our routines.
These individuals tend to be adaptable and curious, casual and flexible, and enjoy change and novelty. They like to be open to possibilities and often resist making hasty decisions.
A person who prefers this preference tends to be well-organized and systematic, methodical, and likes to have short- and long-term plans and follow them through. They like decisions and are against revisiting decisions or plans that have already been made.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about the Official Indonesian MBTI Test
The official MBTI test is a personality assessment published directly by The Myers-Briggs Company and can only be administered by licensed practitioners like Mitologi Inspira. The results are an official report, an MBTI Profile or Interpretive Report for Organizations—with valid preference scores, not just 16-type labels from a free online quiz. That's why we call it the Official Indonesian MBTI Test: you take the actual instrument and receive explanations from certified practitioners.
Two report variants are available: the MBTI Profile and the MBTI Interpretive Report for Organizations. Take the official MBTI test in Indonesia with Mitologi Inspira—a licensed Indonesian MBTI practitioner. You complete the assessment online, then participate in a results-explanation session with a certified practitioner. Fees vary depending on the report variant and the number of participants; for companies, we create special team packages. Contact us for the latest pricing details.
Yes. We use the official MBTI test for both individuals and organizations: individual sessions, MBTI-based team building, and Team Development programs and the Applied MBTI Series. For companies in Indonesia, we typically start with a team needs diagnosis and then design sessions that connect the MBTI results to your team's communication, collaboration, and work style.
The assessment takes approximately 20–30 minutes, followed by a 60–120-minute results-explanation session with a certified practitioner. You'll receive a formal report, an explanation of the four dichotomies, an overview of your work style, strengths, communication style, and stressors—plus practical recommendations for implementation in the workplace.
MBTI preferences are relatively stable because they reflect your most comfortable choice patterns, not your abilities. However, their interpretation and application can evolve with work experience. You can retake the test after about 12 months if you want to see shifts in preferences.
Send us your requirements—number of participants, objectives, and schedule—via our Contact Us page or WhatsApp. We'll map your needs, suggest the right report variant, and schedule a session. For teams, we often combine the official MBTI test with hands-on training to ensure immediate use of the results. Mitologi Inspira serves companies throughout Indonesia, from Jakarta to other cities.
